Refund Policy:
More than ten days before class: refund minus $12.50 administrative fee. There are no refunds less than ten days before class. In the event a class is cancelled you will be fully refunded or have the choice of class credit towards a future class.

Class exchanges are allowed when requested a minimum of three business days before class. The class exchange fee is $12.50.
There are no class exchanges allowed fewer than three business days before class, or after the class has been held. This policy allows us to register people who may be on the waitlist for a class, and to schedule our instructors accordingly.

Photoshop For Photographers Series

Adobe Photoshop Launch Pad: Photoshop 1

Learn the basics of editing digital images with Adobe Photoshop in this three-hour intensive workshop for beginning digital photographers. This is the first workshop in the Photoshop for Photographers series.

This class gets you up to speed quickly through hands on projects demonstrating pro level selection techniques. You will learn how to create multi-layered files then resize, transform and alter individual layers.

Digital Printing and Color Management

This class goes far beyond just demonstrating how to set up your printer. Each participant will actually print one of their own images using the state of the art Epson 7900 printer. We cover how to manage your images from original capture to final output. We focus on printing from Photoshop to achieve screen-to-print color match, including the proper Photoshop color settings, converting profiles, and soft proofing.

Adobe Lightroom 3 Intensive: Two Day Class

Part 1: The first day covers the Library, Slideshow and Web modules. You will learn how to design a logical file structure, build an efficient backup system, create an easy-to-use naming structure, and use “metadata” to simplify tracking images from program to program. Integrate image management into your workflow using Adobe Lightroom 3 software and learn how to implement an advanced keyword system for tracking the content of your images.

Leverage the power of virtual Collections to organize your images. We will alsocover the Slideshow and Web modules in greater detail, including the useof custom templates for unique and powerful automatic web design. Learnhow to set up a web server to post your images online for personal orclient review.

Part 2 : The second day covers the Raw conversion and editing tools and Printmodule. We focus on maximizing the quality of your images in the Developmodule, with a detailed explanation of each toolset, including the newselective control with the Adjustment brush. Learn how to set-up batchprocessing, roundtrip editing of images from Lightroom into AdobePhotoshop CS5, and working with virtual copies of your original files.

Complete Lightroom Part II covers the Raw conversion tools and Print module. We focus on maximizing the quality of your images in the Develop module, with a detailed explanation of each toolset, including the new selective control with the Adjustment brush. Learn how to set-up batch processing, roundtrip editing of images from Lightroom into Adobe Photoshop CS5, and working with virtual copies of your original files.
We will also demonstrate a color managed print workflow from start to finish. Build custom templates for the Print module, understand custom print profiles, and use Adobe Lightroom with dedicated printing software.

It is recommended that participants have a thorough understanding of the Library module and database structure of Lightroom before taking this class.

Introduction to Digital Photograhy Field Workshop

This class is perfect for the beginning digital photographer. During the course of the workshop you will learn how to set all the basic controls on your camera, as well as understanding the important menu items and shooting modes available. We'll focus on strategies for improving your photography, including how to achieve perfect color, how to capture the decisive moment, and how to improve the quality of your photographs.

Digital SLR & Camera RAW Field Workshop

A one-day intensive course in the field and classroom, using digital SLRs and advanced Adobe Photoshop Camera RAW workflow. Bring your DSLR Camera - we provide the computer workstations and software! This class is appropriate for beginners, as well as more experienced users with new cameras or transitioning to digital from film SLRs.

HDR Workshop - High Dynamic Range Photography with Photoshop CS5

The high contrast of normal sunny daylight scenes is often hard to capture with a single shot. HDR photography circumvents these limitations by combining multiple exposure values in a single image. This one-day workshop is a combination of hands-on shooting and classroom instruction that explores advanced techniques in tonemapping using Photoshop CS5 and Photomatix Pro to create the HDR image.

Fort Point HDR Master Class

Explore the exciting world of HDR photography in this two-day comprehensive workshop. The first day will be entirely on-site at San Francisco's historic Fort Point and Presidio parks capturing a wide variety of HDR subjects. Learn the best strategies for visualizing, evaluating, and setting up the technical parameters of the shoot including the limitations of combining multiple exposure values in a single image. Fort Point offers a unique environment for an in-depth exploration of HDR photography both in the architecture and the stunning landscapes of the San Francisco Bay.

On day two we will return to the Future Light classroom to focus on advanced techniques in tonemapping using Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Photomatix Pro to create the HDR image. Learn best techniques for optimizing images in the postprocessing workflow for HDR. Our goal is to complete at least one master image from start to finish including a final gallery quality print. Each participant will leave with one large format archival print of their best workshop image output from the Epson 7900 printer.

Creative Lighting for Still Life/Tabletop • Part 1

Learn how to shoot tabletop images that satisfy a commercially driven market place. This class has been developed as a two part workshop. The first part focuses on using strobe, continuous and ambient light sources and which one to use for different applications. Learn how to work with different surfaces (glass, metal, stone, paper, plastic) diffusing light, bouncing light, and controlling light. Tricks of the trade, from thread and tape to using orthodox wax, getting creative is a must in order to produce unique images that stand out from the rest

Creative Lighting for Still Life/Tabletop • Part 2

Learn how to perfect tabletop images in post production. We will cover workflow practices such as - white balance, global changes, and synching settings using Lightroom. Exporting DNG files to Photoshop, selecting objects for pure white or black backgrounds, working with "in camera" reflections in post production, and achieving idealized product shots.

Advanced Digital Printing Clinic

Sharpen your Photoshop skills in a unique one on one workshop environment. Limited to only 4 participants, spend an entire day editing and printing your own images with the state of the art Epson 7900 printer. Receive custom instruction in both Color and B&W digital processing from Adobe Certified Expert Brad Polt-Jones. This class is suitable for all users with a basic knowledge of Photoshop.
